Exhibition Description

Wet is an intimate exploration of vulnerability, identity and self-expression. Shot in twenty-two showers across Los Angeles, the private space becomes a stage for connection where women are invited to be wholly themselves. Choosing clothes from their own closets, they wear as much or as little makes them comfortable, shaping the experience on their own terms.

The project began as a creative challenge O’Dell set for herself: to do something bigger, be seen, and to trust the process without knowing exactly where it would lead. In creating Wet, Megan confronts her own fears of visibility, failure, and not being enough and replaces them with curiosity, openness, connection and trust in life’s unfolding. The resulting body of work reflects both her personal journey and the stories of the women in the photographs.

At the heart of the series is water, an increasingly finite resource and a reminder of our world’s physical limits. At a time when the art world is rapidly expanding into boundless and increasingly artificial landscapes of AI, Wet returns to the tangible and elemental. It asks viewers to consider their relationship with water, to cherish and protect it, and in doing so reflect on how they care for themselves and the world around them.

In this way, Wet is an offering: an invitation to feel, connect inward and reflect on what it means to create in a world where both natural and emotional resources demand care, and where choosing to be truly present may be the most radical act of all.

About the Artist

Megan O’Dell is a Los Angeles based photographer, best known for her intimate, cinematic portraits of people in their own spaces. Her work evokes a sense of connection, pulling the viewer into the moment shared between photographer, camera and subject in a deeply personal and emotionally evocative way.

Drawing on the comfort and familiarity her subjects feel in their own environments, Megan uses space as a storytelling tool to reveal the person she’s photographing and the world they inhabit. Blurring the lines between hyperrealism, surrealism, documentary and editorial, she moves seamlessly between close, unguarded portraits and wider environmental scenes that place her subjects in context. The result is an evolving archive of connection— a map of spaces, emotions, and encounters that define what it means to be seen.
